Yeast Infections and AIDS, Leukemia and Thyroid Disorders
In addition to diabetes, chronic yeast infections can be a warning sign of AIDS, leukemia and thyroid disorders. In patients with a compromised immune system, a yeast infection can be life-threatening. Because chronic yeast infections can sometimes be a symptom of a serious illness, your doctor should do a complete workup if your yeast infections keep coming back. If you continue to have yeast infections and your doctor doesn’t seem concerned, you might want to bring up the subject yourself and ask for a complete exam. Systemic infections that get into the blood supply, organs and brain are a threat to patients with compromised immune systems, but are rare in healthy patients.
